Patchwork travel Sewing Kit

More patchwork quilting again from me folks! I started this before my grunge paper sewing kit, which easily slips in your handbag , but this took a while to complete as rather a lot of hand sewing, It's approx A6 size and I made it for when I go on my next sewing workshop. Haven't booked one yet, but I like the idea of making a full blown quilt, but rather daunted by the size and accuracy required so need the guidance of a workshop, which my local, BeeCrafty have some great ones to choose from .

I followed this great little tutorial here from http://lotsofpinkhere.blogspot.co.uk and adapted it a bit as the scissors kept falling out. The holder looks a bit like a plant pot now FLOB-ADOB!!!

Thanks for taking the time to leave all your lovely comments they are really appreciated & sorry if I'm rather behind in commenting, there are never enough hours in the day for us crafters.

Think we'll need our thermals again by the end of the week, not good as I've only just stashed away my hot water bottle, but any excuse to stay in a do a spot of crafting.

Crafty Individuals ~ Spring in Fashion

Certainly feels like spring, about time too! The current theme at Crafty Individuals is  'Spring in Fashion', my card uses the lovely CI - 378 on TAP I used distress inks to colour the image and background and the sentiment is from CI - 382

Do check out the Crafty Individuals blog for some amazing projects from the design team, there is still plenty of time to enter the challenge.

Another card I made a while back which I don't think I blogged using CI - 342 and some more TAP which is one of my favourite products

Have a fantastic day and enjoy the sun while it lasts.

Sentimental ~ Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Happy Sunny Sunday to you all, well it is Sunny ATM and I'm happy because it's the latest FSC challenge which is sentimental, chosen by the lovely Esther. It would be great if you could pop over to the FSC blog and see the gorgeous projects made by Stampettes. We also have the lovely Suzanne as a guest designer for us this fortnight. Our fabulous sponsor is Leo from Flonzcraft and the winner of the random draw gets to spend $20 dollars in his stamping store.

I love the sentiment 'Sewing Mends the Soul' in my 50's retro style grunge paper purse as  I find sewing very therapeutic.

This was really easy to make as grunge paper is fab to work with. I used one of the  6" x 12"  pieces of grunge paper and painted both sides in cream emulsion. Then folded it into three. I used fancy edge scissors to cut the sides then stamped and coloured all three sides. Then I machine sewed (but hand sewing will work just as well if you use a pointy tool and Tim Holtz design ruler to punch holes in the grunge paper first) all around the edges. I finished the purse with a brass magnetic snapper.  It is just the right size to fit in my bag with a few essential sewing supplies

All the stamps used are from Crafty Individuals CI - 322, CI - 328 &  CI - 383 apart from the sentiment which is from Indigoblu

The purse reminds me of liquorice allsorts for some reason, mmm now I have a craving for some  LOL. I had Mad Men in mind whilst making this. Perhaps Joan or Betty carried one of these in their handbags, with a bag of Allsorts!!

Have a great day & Happy Crafting xx

Quilted Patchwork Purse

More patchwork from Crafty Corner again, apologises to my non sewing blog buddies, but I can't help it I'm rather obsessed by fabric at this moment. I love the idea of taking a thin, flimsy piece of fabric and turning it into something useable. The small bag pattern I used is from U-handbag. I had some more of the patchwork left over so I'm just in the process of making a jewellery roll.

I managed to get outside to take this whilst the sun was shining, Mind you I nearly got blown over in the process, and the sun is out again today, here's hoping that spring is here to stay.

Sadly my inky mojo has gone. Got the hump with me sewing no doubt, hopefully it will return soon.

Have a lovely day and hopefully the sun is shining where you are too.

Shabby Patchwork Bag

Safely ensconced in crafty corner surrounded by all my crafty goodies is bliss ♡ ♡
I still can't find anything mind you as I'm still trying to navigate my way round all my new cupboards. My sewing machine is now settled into its new home too, so had to give it a little test drive!

I scoured my fabric stash, for a selection of blues to make my patchwork bag, as I've wanted a denim style bag for a while.

Couldn't stop at just the bag, so made a purse and a make up bag too. A girl can never have enough bags don't you think!

Have a lovely weekend and maybe we might just see some sun. ☼

Vintage lace & Grunge cuff

Brrrrr still so cold , think I should have a go at a touch of altered art on my trusty hot water bottle or perhaps I could make a patchwork cover for it instead LOL!

Anyway a little bit of lace and some grunge paper and today for my vintage cuff.  I painted the grunge paper with cream emulsion then stamped the Tim Holtz papillon text stamp in embossing ink and white embossing powder, and then rubbed a little old paper distress ink.

As the grunge paper is a little thin I glued two layers together before stitching and adding the buttons, pearls and some seed beads.  I used the tim holtz tattered florals die and some felt, lace and a button to make the flower and to finish I used a hitch fastener as a closure.

Pictures are a bit rubbish as the white was difficult to photograph.

Thanks for all your lovely comments and Happy Crafting XX

I am entering this in the following challenges

Patchwork Purse

More sewing from me today. Really enjoying the gentile art of sewing and quilting. My paper obsession has now branched out to fabric. I am in love with the French general collections from Moda as the fabrics have a worn, aged feel to them. The fabrics in this quilted purse are called chateau rouge. It is machine sewn as my hand stitching is not the neatest. I added a little heart charm on the zipper to complete.

I followed this fabby tutorial from Quiltsalott here to make the purse. That's what I love about blogging, such a wealth of resources and fantastic ideas.

Crafty corner is just waiting for the work surfaces and then I will be able to move in and sort out all of my oodles of crafting stuff and get stamping. Me thinks my sewing machine will be moving in too......!

Thanks for all your lovely comments, so much appreciated. I will be doing some blogg visiting later as I'm very much behind, so apologises for that.

Have a great day, despite the cold, can't believe its April and I'm still using a hot water bottle!!

Take care and Happing Crafting. xx
