Jewellery Pouch

I've been itching to use my sewing machine more; I really want to have a go at making a bag and bought a book recently, but I'm already confused what with having to enlarge the patterns, selvedges,  warp & weft, bias binding and that's without making sure I get the right size fabric!! So I've settled on a simple jewellery pouch. There are loads of tutorials on the net and I adapted one to make this pouch. I used two pieces of fabric and some iron on interfacing.

I used a couple of images from The Graphics fairy and Imagenes Vintage and printed onto some linen from Craftycomputerpaper and cut around my spellbinders die then stitched onto the fabric first before sewing together with the lining.

I made the lace flower and added a pearl brad and snap to complete the purse
I really enjoyed making this and I'm sure I'll be making a few more before attempting the bag project as I'm still dithering over what fabric to choose.

Anyway enough waffle from me. Hope you all have a fantastic sunny weekend.

I am entering this for Brag Monday ~ The graphics Fairy

  8. It's beautiful Paula and thanks for sharing how you did it - I may just have a go at something like this myself. Selvedges, warp, weft etc - it's all coming back to me from all those years ago when I was doing my 'O' level needlework, together with 'running plackets' and 'rise and fall seams'.

  19. Hi Paula, well you certainly made the right fabric choices for this beauty. The image is very pretty and I like your very professional job with the snap closing. I would not worry too much about warps and wefts yet, if doing what you like produces results like thislovely creation. Crafty hugs, Anne x

  23. Your work is fabulous Paula another stunning bag.

I have my MIL to thank for teaching me how to sew and read patterns many years ago. All was confusing to me also until she explained and like everything, once shown, it became very easy.

Sew (lol) persevere sweetie all will become clear and then you will wonder how you thought it was so hard.
